Who it's for

For people who aren't in crisis — but aren't coping brilliantly either.

This isn't about fixing anyone. It's about creating steadiness — through a calm environment, a predictable session flow, and a coach-led activity that doesn't require big conversations.

Parents of 8-16-year-olds

Often neurodivergent or SEND. Small, calm groups with a clear routine and no judgement.

Adults (18+)

For people who are coping, but stretched. Quiet time outdoors with something purposeful to focus on.

Referrers

SENCOs, social prescribers and professionals looking for safe, structured, outcome-focused provision.

How it works

A calm structure. A real skill. A safe pace.

Reel Impact Angling is skilled facilitation outdoors — not therapy. We use carp angling because it's practical, absorbing, and naturally regulating.

What we're not
  • • Not a clinical service
  • • Not a loud club environment
  • • Not pressure, hype or 'fixing'
Step 1
Arrive. Get settled.

A calm welcome, clear plan for the session, and time to land. No pressure to talk.

Step 2
Learn the basics (properly)

Coach-led, beginner-friendly angling. We keep it simple, safe and steady — and we go at your pace.

Step 3
A predictable rhythm

Casting, baiting, waiting, noticing. The routine is the point — it helps the nervous system settle.

Step 4
Leave a bit steadier

People often leave feeling calmer, more capable, and more connected — without having to perform.

Programmes

Three ways to get involved.

We're building a social enterprise model: when funding is available, we can offer funded places to those who need them most. Paid options help keep the programme running.

Paid — 18+
Reel Impact Carp League

A community carp league focused on consistency, enjoyment and belonging. Separate from the wellbeing work.

FAQ

Quick answers, plain English.

If you're unsure, just ask. We'll keep it simple.

Is this therapy?

No. We're not a clinical service. We're a calm, coach-led outdoor programme that helps people feel steadier through routine, skill-building and time by the water.

Do you need to be able to fish already?

Not at all. We're beginner-friendly and we teach the basics properly, at a safe pace.

Who is it for?

People aged 8+ who aren't in crisis, but aren't coping brilliantly — including young people (often neurodivergent/SEND), adults under pressure, and those who struggle in traditional settings.

How do funded sessions work?

When funding is available, we assess whether a funded place is right for you. If not, paid sessions are available. Just get in touch and we'll explain your options.

How do we refer or commission?

Use the Referrers page for the basics, then send an enquiry. We'll respond with clear next steps and what we'd need from you.
