About

Calm, structure, and a real skill.

Reel Impact Angling is the flagship outdoor wellbeing programme of The Essex Hub CIC. We use carp angling to help people regulate emotions, build confidence, and feel more connected — without pressure, labels, or therapy-speak.

Why angling?

Angling is practical and absorbing. It gives people something to do with their hands and attention. The rhythm of setting up, casting, waiting and noticing helps the nervous system settle.

What makes it different

We fill the gap between "coping fine" and "being in crisis". Sessions are calm, structured and beginner-friendly. We focus on steadiness and capability — through doing, not talking.

A social enterprise model

When funding is available, we assess whether a funded place is right for you. Paid coaching and community activities help keep the programme sustainable — so we can offer funded access when it's available.

In plain terms
  • • Calm, predictable sessions
  • • Safe, coach-led delivery
  • • Beginner-friendly (no kit needed)
  • • Clear boundaries: not therapy, not a club
